Create a website brief for a fictitious new restaurant. You can choose between:
- Nataka Kula (Cuisine from East Africa) or
- Syam Kraw (Thai Kitchen)
Use the questions from the lesson ‘Website Design Brief’ and add questions of your own as well. You will need to post at least 15 questions and answers to your blog.
After you have organised all 15 questions and answers, create a website brief that can be handed to a web design team. Keep in mind that the website brief will be the guideline from which the site is built.
You are not required to build or design the website; only upload the questions, answers and website brief to your WordPress blog.
I chose Syam Kraw.
- What kind of visitors are you expecting on your website?
We have customers of all types and ages, but we mostly expect people aged 20-50 who enjoys thaifood and our culture that either want to book a table or order takeaway on or website.
- Who are your competitors and how do you differ from them?
Our main competitors are TUNCO (not a proper restaurant, mostly takeaway), Apsorn Thai and Sawan. TUNCO is more of a takeaway restaurant and does not offer their own seating. Apsorn Thai is a typical thai restauran while Sawan is a bit more contemporary and expensive. They are competitors because they are all located close to Syam Kraw.
- What is your deadline for completing the site? How big is the budget?
Our budget is 40.000 nok and we need it up and running in 2 months.
- What actions do you want visitors to take on the site?
We want the visitors to get an idea of what Syam Kraw is all about, see our menu and end up booking a table or order takeaway.
- What features should be used on your website?
We want pictures of our restaurant and our dishes, some information about the restaurant, our menus, contact information, online booking of takeaway and table reservation.
- List the names of three websites you like and explain what you like about them. Next, ask the client for their thoughts; ask them to point out their likes, dislikes and expectations on the website examples. This step can save you valuable time and money.
https://nam-fah.com:a good website, we like the white background and that the focus is on the pictures.
https://www.tunco.no: A bit more colorful website but we like the way the pictures are placed and the way the menu is presented.
http://www.sawan.no: We like the classic and ethnic feel of the website, but dislike the design of the booking menu.
- Do you have a brand manual or brand guidelines?
We don’t have a brand manual, but we have our logo that we want to incorporate into the website.
- Do you have any colour preferences? What should the look and feel for the website be?
We want the website to have a white background with black text, and have the colors come from the pictures of our food etc. Maybe we can have some nice fonts for the headings to make it a bit more fun.
- What do you NOT want on your site in terms of text, content, and graphic elements?
Dont think we want a lot of graphic elements, and does not want long cluttered text.
- Who will be the contact person for this project?
The restaurant manager.
- Who will be responsible for maintaining the website? Will the person have the time and skills to do so?
None of the employees has any knowledge in this field so we would get back to you if the website needs any updates.
- How much would the you as the client want to be involved in the design process?
We don’t have much experience with design so we will let you be in charge of that part, but we would like to have good communication back and fourth when needed.
- What is the most important elements for this website?
The menu, online booking and takeaway order option.
- Is this your first website, what did you like/dislike about the other website?
Yes, this will be our first website, so we don’t have much to compere it to.
